Volcanoes National Park - Site Seeing in The Big Island of Hawaii

Volcanoes National Park.

What a fun trip up to Volcanoes National Park. We have visited several parks but this is so different than the other National Treasures. When you drive into the park you will see the visitor’s center on the right side of the road. You can stop and get some maps or information regarding the parks. The cost is $10.00 per car load and the pass is good for 7 days. This is quite a bargain. If you are a pedestrian or bicyclist the entrance is $5.00. For the latest information on the volcano flow, call 808 985-6000 or

The rim is very evident around the volcano and it was amazing to see the different topography all within one mile. We walked around and there are several hikes that are easy and comfortable 2 – 4 miles. You will see the steam tubes as you walk around the creator and all of a sudden you walk upon a wild orchid. We drove down to the "Lava Tubes" and it is like stepping into a different world. Very green and tropical gives you a chance to experience a walk through history. I would like to recommend this site seeing activity for the entire family. We could have spent many hours more at this " National Treasure", but we need to get back before it was too dark to see the rest of the island.
