We had a fabulous time showing two best friends (age 91 and
92) the island of Maui. We started with
the adventure loading up at the airport in Oakland. It is always a challenge to make sure
everyone has their ID’s and boarding passes somewhere that will not be lost.
Wanda and Muriel have been best friends well over 65 years
and have raised their kids together. We
have been camping, piano lessons, moves and life changing experiences. Muriel had moved several times and ended up
in Phoenix area with her husband Arlie.
They were happy living there for many years, but after Arlie passed away
life was just a little harder for Muriel to deal with on her own. She is now living close to her family and
they are glad she is living close enough to watch her grandkids and great
children grow up.
My mom has been
fortunate to have most of her family living close by and was able to take
advantage of many trips to the islands with the rest of our family. Mom had lost dad at an early age so now both
mom and Muriel have more precious time to visit and spend quality time
together.
This trip to Maui was such a fun experience to see them
reconnect and just spend precious hours talking and walking on the Ocean Trail
in front of the Hotels in Kaanapali.
We experienced site seeing at the IAO Valley (the needle),
Haleakala National Park, driving up to the North Side of Maui to see the Blow
Hole, free Hula Show, local arts and craft show, saw the inside of many souvenier shops and much more. These girls had more fun picking out surprises
for their grand kids. Small things can
be a precious experience to many. Just
to think that time is ticking and these two great ladies were able and willing
to experience the Island of Maui together with a little help from us. We were so lucky to be able to spend these
memories with them. Taking lots of
pictures and sending them back via text message is the way that the family was
able to be assured that there were big smiles on their faces and that they
truly were having the time of their life.
Just remember that sharing your vacations with others can be
rewarding and and inspiring moments when you really think about it. These ladies will be ready to go when the
next opportunity arises…. Now with
flower attached in their hair, they are wanting to talk about when the next
trip is planned. They wanted to make
sure that you all take advantage of planning ahead.
Smiles and spending quality with Friends and Family is
something I always recommend, being a travel agent for over 32 years. Your experiences should be shared with other
and make memories to last your lifetime.
